The SSAC is pleased to participate for the first time ever in GivingTuesday, a global movement that encourages people to do good. This year, we are asking our members and others interested in the study of architecture in Canada to consider donating in support of our student prizes. As a volunteer-run organization, we rely on membership dues and donations to support all of our initiatives.
The Martin Eli Weil Prize is given each year for the best student essay on the role played by the built environment in Canadian society. The Phyllis Lambert Prize is awarded biennially in recognition of the best doctoral dissertation on the built environment in Canada. Both awards support emerging scholars through a monetary prize and travel funding to present at the annual conference. Additionally, essays recognized by the Martin Eli Weil Prize are published in the Society’s journal.
The SSAC is particularly looking to develop our Phyllis Lambert Prize Endowment Fund. Recently established through a generous donation by a SSAC member, this fund will help ensure the continuation of the prize, which acknowledges and celebrates excellence in doctoral-level work on the built environment in Canada.
Check out our GivingTuesday page or donate directly on the SSAC website. Thank you for your generosity this #GivingTuesday!
